This week we were in Montgomery for Wednesday's public hearing on HB28 (sponsored by Rep. Pringle). This bill would abolish the Alabama Housing Trust Fund Advisory Committee, along with many other committees that are obsolete or no longer active. We were successful in having Rep. Pringle agree to delete the committee from the bill, as we know how integral this committee will be once the AHTF is funded. Rep. Pringle was great to work with, so if you get a chance, please take a moment to thank him if you see him in the legislative hallways or anywhere else!
We also had a nice meeting with Speaker Hubbard about the climate in this legislative year as well as the need for a fully funded AHTF. Additionally, the bill has been drafted in LRS so please be on the lookout for this bill to drop next week (hopefully)! Once it drops, we will post the committee it is assigned to, as well as other information like key points to the legislation.
If you haven't already, please mark your calendars for Wednesday, March 9th for LIHCA's Advocacy Day - it is critical that we have LOTS OF PEOPLE THERE who will show their support of the AHTF.
Have a great weekend!
